Overview

The role of a PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) Stockyard Technician focuses on thoroughly inspecting vehicles before they are sent to dealerships, guaranteeing each car meets established quality benchmarks. This includes checking the mechanical systems, safety devices, and cosmetic conditions, addressing any faults, carrying out minor fixes, and readying vehicles for handover to customers. The position plays a key part in upholding the reputation for superior vehicle standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute comprehensive pre-delivery inspections on vehicles and related activities.
  • Examine vehicles for obvious damage and absence of significant components.
  • Check for loose or improperly aligned trims, doors, and hardware.
  • Log discrepancies and provide acceptance documentation for each delivered vehicle.
  • Perform repairs and replace faulty parts efficiently and accurately, adhering to dealership and factory guidelines.
  • Ensure warranty repairs are recorded and billed correctly.
  • Conduct road tests to evaluate steering, brakes, transmission, and engine performance.
  • Test electronic equipment such as windows, seats, audio systems, horn, lights, and directional signals for functional standards.
  • Inspect vehicle surfaces for paint imperfections, touching up minor chips and scratches with matching factory paint and a brush applicator.
  • Fit optional equipment requested by customers or dealers and install standard parts as needed.
  • Fill antifreeze in radiators according to seasonal requirements.
  • Tune engines using technician tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Install or repair major mechanical, hydraulic, or electromechanical components including radios, air conditioners, power steering, and power brakes using hand tools.
  • Clean and polish vehicle exteriors; vacuum and detail interiors.
  • Maintain responsibility for all dealership tools and manuals.
  • Keep detailed records of inspections, tests, repairs, and outcomes in line with company and industry standards.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management about inspection activities.
  • Ensure vehicles comply with manufacturer quality standards and relevant safety regulations.
  • Identify and correct defects found during inspections to guarantee customer satisfaction and regulatory compliance.
  • Stay informed and comply with applicable regulations including hazardous waste disposal and OSHA requirements.
  • Operate all tools and equipment safely, confirming vehicle safety features such as airbags, seat belts, lighting, and brakes function correctly for occupant protection.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Educational requirement: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Professional certification preferred: Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification.
  • At least two years of experience in automotive repair, maintenance, or a related technical discipline.
  • Fluency in both English and Arabic languages is required for communication.
