Job Overview
We are collaborating with a well-established mining company based in Queensland to recruit an experienced Payroll Officer. This permanent role supports site operations on a DIDO (Drive-In Drive-Out) roster. The position involves hands-on management of payroll processes for the operation, alongside overseeing HRIS data and reporting functions. Reporting directly to the HR Manager and working closely with the wider site leadership team, this role ensures accuracy and timeliness in payroll processing and actively supports HR systems and compliance throughout the employee lifecycle.
Key Duties
- Oversee the complete payroll process for around 900 employees
- Verify accuracy of timesheets, allowances, and comply with site-specific pay conditions
- Maintain HRIS data integrity, handle reporting and system administration
- Assist with onboarding, employee mobilisation, and management of personnel records
- Contribute to compliance efforts, audits, and related payroll reporting
- Engage with site teams and leadership to address payroll and system queries
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated expertise in managing payroll end-to-end in high-volume contexts
- Extensive experience with HRIS platforms and working with large data volumes
- Background in mining, resources, or heavy industry sectors preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail paired with strong analytical skills
- Able to adapt and perform well in a fast-paced, site-based environment
- Excellent communication abilities for stakeholder collaboration at all levels
- Holds a degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Finance
- Minimum 3 years of payroll experience in high-volume settings
- Experience in industrial, mining, engineering, manufacturing, or project-driven environments is a strong advantage
- Familiarity with SAP software is highly desirable
