Role Overview
We are inviting experienced payroll professionals to join our Head Office team in Brisbane or Maroochydore with a part-time fixed-term contract of 30 hours weekly. The Payroll Officer will be accountable for the accurate, timely, and compliant management of end-to-end payroll operations for multiple properties. This role demands high-caliber service and supportive engagement with both employees and management teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out full-cycle payroll processing on a fortnightly basis across a range of properties.
- Handle Workers Compensation payments, Paid Parental Leave through Services Australia, and child support obligations where applicable.
- Upkeep and accurate management of payroll and leave systems ensuring employee records are current.
- Interpret employment awards, enterprise agreements, and contracts to correctly process overtime and shift allowances.
- Process new employee onboarding, contract variations, salary adjustments, back pays, and final termination payments.
- Calculate and reconcile employee leave balances, including annual and long service leave accruals.
- Support month-end payroll reporting, perform payroll tax calculations, reconciliations, and general ledger balancing.
- Prepare internal and statutory payroll reports.
- Address payroll-related inquiries promptly from employees and managers.
- Assist with compliance, audits, and various ad hoc payroll projects as needed.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- At least three years of experience processing high-volume payrolls.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, award interpretations, and compliance standards.
- Familiarity with Workers Compensation processes is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Demonstrated capability to meet multiple deadlines with precision and urgency.
- Excellent attention to detail paired with strong reconciliation expertise.
- Ability to handle confidential data with professionalism and care.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizing and problem-solving skills.
