Role Overview

The Operational Readiness Engineer is responsible for ensuring that facilities, infrastructure, systems, and operational processes are prepared for safe, efficient, and sustainable use from day one. Working closely with engineering, supply chain, construction, commissioning, and operations teams, this role executes the operational readiness program to ensure a smooth project-to-operations transition.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain aspects of the Operational Readiness Plan, monitoring progress against readiness milestones and supporting readiness reviews.
• Assist in defining asset hierarchies, conducting criticality assessments, and managing metadata requirements; validate asset information within systems like the Asset Information Model and CMMS to comply with ISO 55001.
• Collaborate with maintenance and reliability teams to integrate maintainability criteria into designs; help develop and upload preventive and predictive maintenance tasks into CMMS.
• Support identification, cataloguing, and coordination of long-lead items, spares, and consumables with supply chain and warehouse teams to ensure correct storage and tagging.
• Contribute to drafting, reviewing, and validating Standard Operating Procedures, Emergency Operating Procedures, and job aids; participate in procedure walkthroughs and validations.
• Assist in implementing training programs aligned with plant systems; partake in competency evaluations and readiness drills.
• Verify technical accuracy of asset data, engineering deliveries, and digital models before handover, ensuring consistency of P&IDs, data books, and 3D models linked with operational systems.
• Engage in performance testing, reliability runs, and early operational activities; document data, report deficiencies, and aid corrective actions to meet readiness targets.
• Take part in readiness reviews, risk assessments, and compliance checks, documenting and ensuring closure of findings prior to system handover.

Additional Duties

The role demands applying sound engineering judgment to address issues affecting operability, maintainability, and lifecycle costs, working independently with general guidance. The engineer may provide mentorship to junior colleagues or contractors regarding readiness activities and act as a primary interface among engineering, commissioning, and operations groups, preparing reports and progress updates. Proficiency in asset and operational readiness management software tools is required.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or comparable experience.
• Experience in commissioning industrial or EPCM projects.
