Role overview
Etihad Cargo is evolving quickly, and this position sits at the centre of shaping a cargo network that can be delivered operationally, improves profitability, and supports the wider strategy of Etihad Aviation Group. As Manager, Network Planning, you will help optimise the airline’s cargo network and ensure scheduling decisions are commercially sound and operationally feasible.
What you will do
- Lead the development and delivery of freighter schedules, balancing immediate operational needs with longer-term planning goals.
- Support short-term planning for the current IATA season, including aircraft re-fleeting, capacity optimisation, operational reliability, and on-time performance targets.
- Contribute to 6–12 month planning by responding to network and commercial requirements while keeping operations compliant and efficient.
- Recommend improvements and changes to senior leaders to continuously raise capacity utilisation and network performance.
- Help build annual budget schedules as well as 5-year and 10-year schedule plans aligned with long-term fleet strategy.
- Coordinate regularly with teams across Network Planning, Revenue Management, Alliances & Partnerships, Operations, Government Affairs, Finance, and Corporate Communications.
- Safeguard and strengthen Etihad’s slot portfolio.
- Ensure flight schedules are published accurately and on time.
- Handle ad hoc charter opportunities where they add value without disrupting operations.
- Create and roll out a freighter network that uses the fleet efficiently and balances cargo capacity.
- Work closely with freighter operations, maintenance, and commercial teams to optimise fleet usage in both the short and long term.
- Assess how capacity adjustments affect the broader network and recommend practical responses.
- Partner with passenger network planning to understand cargo requirements before introducing or changing network capacity.
- Suggest and implement corrective actions to improve utilisation of freighter and belly capacity.
- Review route profitability to support quick decisions on tactical frequency changes and longer-term structural adjustments.
What we are looking for
- At least 5 years of experience in airline network planning or scheduling, with cargo airline exposure considered an advantage.
- A bachelor’s degree is required; postgraduate study in a relevant field is preferred.
- Strong strategic planning ability and advanced analytical thinking.
- Good negotiation skills and the ability to advocate effectively.
