About the Role
Join the largest Climate Change and Sustainability Services team in Oceania at EY, where multidisciplinary experts collaborate to support organizations in understanding and managing risks and opportunities related to climate change and sustainability. This role focuses on both advisory and assurance functions related to sustainability reporting, including environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategies, climate risk, decarbonisation, human rights, and modern slavery. The position is based in Auckland or Wellington, New Zealand, with flexible working options including hybrid and reduced hours possible.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams across various industries to assist organizations in managing and reporting sustainability and climate-related impacts.
- Lead and mentor engagement teams, providing guidance and development support to staff.
- Oversee project execution by maintaining clear communication with clients, team members, and leadership, ensuring timely delivery of quality outputs.
- Conduct assurance work for non-financial reporting including sustainability metrics, emissions, and energy usage across sectors.
- Advise clients in creating and implementing strategies for non-financial reporting and sustainability performance improvement.
- Contribute to the development of strategic frameworks, methodologies, and analytical tools to help clients navigate regulatory environments and stakeholder needs.
- Support clients in setting and achieving sustainability goals across topics like diversity, waste reduction, modern slavery, and environmental impact.
- Assist with climate scenario analysis to identify risks and opportunities for short- and long-term management planning.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong enthusiasm and commitment to climate and sustainability issues with a desire to expand knowledge.
- Experience in consulting or professional services environments.
- A tertiary degree in quantitative disciplines such as engineering, mathematics, science, commerce, accounting, business, or physics.
- Background in climate change services within consulting, industry, or government sectors.
- Experience with greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting and non-financial reporting assurance.
- Familiarity with New Zealand's climate reporting requirements and awareness of Australian Accounting Standard Board S2 standards.
- Proven leadership abilities in managing and developing teams.
- Knowledge related to climate and nature disclosure frameworks, including TCFD and TNFD standards.
- Understanding of decarbonisation methods, climate risk assessment, and strategy formulation.
- Adaptability and critical thinking to deliver optimal client-focused solutions.
