Junior Network Engineer (Cisco)

Overview

We are looking to hire two Junior Network Engineers to join a prominent organisation's expanding network support team based in Harrogate, England. The position offers an initial salary of a327,500 with progression to a330,000, along with excellent benefits. Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical resource for customers, troubleshooting and resolving complex networking issues by phone and email, including outside standard business hours.
• Expand expertise in a wide array of vendor technologies covering SD-WAN, VoIP, and data center systems.
• Manage supplier and incident processes from detection to resolution by coordinating with internal engineering teams and external providers, ensuring resolution within SLA agreements.
• Maintain excellent communication with customers by providing clear and proactive updates from fault logging through closure to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Oversee system monitoring platforms, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues before they affect customers.

Preferred Experience and Knowledge

• Experience in 1st or 2nd Line support roles focusing on networking problem resolution.
• Familiarity with technologies such as Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, Huawei, and OneAccess for Data & Core Networking.
• Exposure to Voice & Collaboration tools like Broadworks SIP Telephony, Polycom, Cisco WebEx, and Microsoft Teams.
• Knowledge of WAN/Connectivity including Routing (BGP/MPLS), ADSL, FTTC, FTTP, SOGEA, and Cellular Networks (Digi / Teltonika).
• Understanding of Security & Access management with firewalls (Cisco, Fortinet, Meraki), VPNs, and two-factor authentication solutions such as Safenet, MobilePass, and Fortinet Authenticator.
• Experience or awareness of Cloud environments, device/environmental monitoring platforms, and data center operations.

Qualifications & Skills

• Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
• High attention to detail and dedication to customer service excellence.
• Certifications like CompTIA Network+ or CCNA are advantageous.
• Familiarity or certification in ITIL or ITIL Foundation is a plus.
