About the Role
Auxilia Group Recruitment is sourcing an IT Administrator for a client operating in the maritime transport sector. This permanent position is located onsite in the Cork Harbour area. Due to the nature of the operations, availability for responsive support beyond regular office hours is sometimes necessary, including the capability to attend onsite when required.
Role Summary
The IT Administrator supports the daily functioning of IT systems spanning shore offices, terminals, and onboard vessels. They ensure reliable, secure, and well-maintained business-critical systems such as passenger booking platforms, crew devices, networks, and endpoints.
Key Duties
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, personal computers, laptops, and other endpoint devices.
- Set up and oversee cloud resources and monitor their performance.
- Provide technical support to staff and crew by troubleshooting hardware and software problems; serve as an escalation contact for Level 1 Service Desk issues.
- Maintain network connectivity including LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and satellite links in coordination with the network team.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and email systems including Microsoft 365 and Active Directory administration.
- Execute software updates, patch management, and ensure regular backups are performed.
- Monitor IT systems continuously to uphold high availability and robust security.
- Assist with IT inventory tracking and procurement processes.
- Contribute to IT projects and deployment efforts both onboard vessels and in shore offices.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in IT support or system administration, ideally within maritime, transport, or multi-site organizations.
- Proficient with Windows desktop operating systems, Microsoft 365, network management, and foundational server administration.
- Experience utilizing helpdesk ticketing systems and maintaining IT documentation.
