About the role
T&G Global is focused on helping shape healthier futures by moving fresh produce to customers across New Zealand and beyond. The Whakatu Post Harvest team in Hastings is hiring an Inventory Lead for a newly established position that will be central to keeping packaging, consumables, and other non-produce inventory available at the right time so packing activity can run smoothly throughout the season.
This position suits someone who enjoys combining planning, supplier coordination, purchasing, and inventory control, while also looking for ways to improve performance and processes.
What you will do
- Own non-produce inventory across the Whakatu Post Harvest operation.
- Forecast packaging needs and make sure stock is available when required.
- Keep inventory records accurate and oversee reporting, reconciliations, and cycle counts.
- Raise purchase orders for packaging and operational consumables.
- Work with suppliers, strengthen relationships, and track delivery performance.
- Assist with seasonal planning and materials forecasting.
- Look into stock variances and help put better processes in place.
- Maintain reliable inventory data that supports day-to-day operational decisions.
- Promote safe working habits and support site-wide continuous improvement.
What we are looking for
The ideal person is practical, well organised, proactive, and comfortable solving problems before they disrupt operations. You should be confident working across teams and able to balance accuracy with speed in a busy environment.
- Background in inventory, stores, warehousing, purchasing, or supply chain coordination.
- Careful attention to detail and a strong commitment to accurate stock records.
- Comfort using ERP or other inventory management systems.
- Analytical ability to investigate and fix stock differences.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
- A mindset focused on improving processes and challenging outdated ways of working.
- Good planning and prioritisation skills in a fast-moving operational setting.
Nice to have
Experience in manufacturing, food production, horticulture, or FMCG environments would be an advantage, although it is not mandatory.
Why this role stands out
This is a chance to make a real impact in a new role with the freedom to shape how inventory is managed across the Whakatu site. You will work alongside experienced operational leaders and be part of a collaborative team supporting one of New Zealand’s major fresh produce businesses.
Important requirements
All applicants must be able to provide proof that they are legally entitled to work in New Zealand. Any job offer will also depend on successful completion of a drug test, credit check, driver licence check, and security check.
