Job description
Role Overview
As an HVAC/ICWS Technician, you will be tasked with operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and Industrial Control & Water Systems (ICWS) to support mission-critical operations at Al Udeid Air Base. Your work ensures dependable environmental control and water system functionality meeting U.S. military, safety, and local standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and conduct maintenance on various commercial and industrial HVAC systems including chillers, air handling units (AHUs), rooftop units (RTUs), split systems, and corresponding control systems.
- Identify mechanical, electrical, and control issues within HVAC systems and implement corrective repairs.
- Execute preventive maintenance routines according to schedules and technical guidelines.
- Oversee system performance and suggest efficiency and reliability upgrades.
- Manage operation and upkeep of industrial control systems linked to potable water, wastewater management, pumping, and distribution systems.
- Monitor SCADA/BMS interfaces, responding promptly to alarms or irregular operations.
- Perform inspections, routine testing, and minor repairs on valves, pumps, sensors, and control parts.
- Assist with water system sampling, flushing, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain precise maintenance records, reports, and work orders.
- Adhere rigorously to safety, environmental, and force protection protocols.
- Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and base staff to support operational needs.
- Provide emergency interventions and be available for after-hours or on-call duties as necessary.
- Ensure all tools, equipment, and workstation areas remain safe and properly maintained.
Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
- At least 5 years of experience servicing and repairing commercial/industrial HVAC and Industrial Chilled Water Systems.
- Possession of EPA Universal Certification.
Technical Knowledge & Abilities
- Understanding of industrial control and water system operations.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and utilize technical drawings, schematics, and control diagrams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Additional Criteria
- Must hold a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
- Possession of a valid U.S. Passport is preferred.
- Must be able to obtain and retain a Qatar Residency Visa.
- Capacity to work under extreme environmental conditions including dust, heat, and challenging weather.
- Willingness to endure prolonged working hours and potentially hazardous settings.
Deployment & Security
- Job requires 100% travel in deployed location.
- Must have and maintain Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance.
