Position Overview
Team Global Express is inviting applications for several full-time Heavy Rigid (HR) Drivers to join our Townsville branch. This role involves local pick-up and delivery (PUD) operations, perfect for drivers who thrive on active work, engaging with customers, and contributing within a dynamic logistics setting.
Key Duties
- Drive an HR vehicle to conduct local pick-ups and deliveries across Townsville and nearby suburbs.
- Execute scheduled delivery and collection tasks within allotted timeframes.
- Handle freight physically, including loading and unloading activities.
- Secure loads properly using straps, chains, and approved securement methods.
- Perform daily vehicle pre-start inspections and promptly report any defects.
- Keep vehicles and workspaces tidy and well-maintained.
- Adhere strictly to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS), Chain of Responsibility guidelines, and company safety rules.
- Report hazards, incidents, and near misses following organizational protocols.
- Deliver professional, customer-focused service, and cooperate effectively with depot and operations teams to maintain seamless freight movement.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a valid HR Driver Licence.
- Prior experience in Pick-Up and Delivery (PUD) is strongly preferred.
- Background in transport, freight, or logistics roles beneficial.
- Physically capable and comfortable undertaking manual handling tasks.
- Sound knowledge of the Townsville region and its surroundings.
- Understanding of proper load restraint techniques and safety procedures for freight handling.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance.
- Good communication skills and a customer service orientation.
- Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Eligible to work fully in Australia.
