Role Summary
This Houseperson position is responsible for looking after the hotel’s public areas during afternoon and night shifts. The goal is to keep shared spaces clean, comfortable, and welcoming so guests have a positive and memorable stay.
Key Duties
- Keep all back-of-house spaces clean, except for the kitchen and storage areas.
- Maintain cleanliness in public zones such as the lobby, restaurant, and conference areas.
- Clean and look after locker rooms, as well as staff and guest washrooms.
- Complete scheduled and routine cleaning tasks as assigned.
- Handle cleaning equipment carefully, and report any faults according to the procedure manual.
- Maintain all department tools and equipment to a high standard.
- Take part in regular stock checks of equipment.
- Protect keys and secure public and back-of-house areas by following security procedures at all times.
- Report any suspicious people or items to the supervisor without delay.
- Use and store cleaning chemicals correctly, following health and safety rules and manufacturer guidance.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant is warm, attentive, and caring, with the ability to notice guest needs early and respond in a professional, welcoming way. Prior housekeeping or cleaning experience is helpful, though not mandatory. Strong organisation and time management skills are important, and the role requires good physical fitness because it is active and includes lifting up to 20 kg.
Availability is required for a range of shifts, including mornings, evenings, and nights, along with weekends and public holidays.
