Job summary
This role is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. The housekeeping work must follow facility policies and procedures and comply with applicable state and federal regulations, with the goal of supporting residents’ quality of life.
Core duties
- Sweep floors and clean them with a damp or wet mop; when required, carry out floor spray-buffing, stripping, or waxing in line with center procedures and safety practices such as placing wet floor signs.
- Vacuum carpeted areas where applicable.
- Remove waste from bins, clean the inside and outside of containers, and replace liners.
- Clean bathroom sinks, fixtures, and toilets according to center guidelines.
- Clean mirrors, pictures, windows, and other glass surfaces.
- Clean areas behind and beneath furniture and other items.
- Follow infection prevention and control standards during all cleaning tasks.
- Keep corners, baseboards, and doorways free from wax and dirt accumulation.
- Replace soiled privacy curtains and exterior window draperies when needed.
- Take down and reinstall curtains and exterior draperies using a ladder when required.
- Dust and damp-clean surfaces in resident and patient rooms, including furniture, bed frames, and windowsills, while following facility procedures and using wet floor signs when needed.
- Move furniture as directed to clean underneath and behind it.
- Turn mattresses after they have been cleaned.
Experience and qualifications
No prior experience is required, as the facility provides on-the-job training. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Previous work in healthcare housekeeping or environmental services is also preferred.
