Host/Hostess

Position Overview

The role involves welcoming guests, determining their party size, and seating them at clean, available tables. Hosts/Hostesses assist diners by guiding them through the dining areas, arranging seats, and ensuring each guest's place setting is complete with clean silverware, napkins, and menus. They also manage seating arrangements for groups with specific requirements and maintain the dining environment's cleanliness and readiness throughout service.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests courteously and assess party size for seating arrangements.
• Provide assistance to guests as they navigate dining rooms.
• Arrange, move, and organize tables and chairs, especially for guests with special needs.
• Ensure all place settings meet the standard of cleanliness and completeness.
• Keep menus neat, updated, and adequately stocked.
• Maintain work area hygiene consistently, following clean-as-you-go principles.
• Monitor dining areas for availability, service quality, safety, and guest well-being.
• Adhere to all company safety and security policies, report any accidents or unsafe conditions.
• Maintain professional appearance and confidentiality of company information.
• Use clear and professional communication; handle telephone etiquette appropriately.
• Collaborate with team members to achieve shared goals and respond thoughtfully to co-worker concerns.
• Be physically capable of standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods and lifting or moving light objects up to 10 pounds.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
• No prior work experience required.
• No supervisory responsibility expected.
• No license or certification necessary.
