Key Responsibilities
- Maintain availability during designated hours to promptly respond to patient queries, ensuring callbacks or messages are returned within 2 hours and no later than 24 hours.
- Provide immediate medical and health advice to patients through phone or text communications.
- Guide patients efficiently to appropriate healthcare resources both inside Sprout and within the wider public health network.
- Assist patients in emergency situations by facilitating urgent care instructions, supporting but not substituting emergency services.
- Support appointment scheduling although most bookings are handled by other team members.
- Refer or research specialist consultations when patient issues go beyond your expertise.
- Notify patients and the Sprout team proactively regarding changes in your availability due to vacations or off-hours.
- Conduct Medical Intake Form review calls with patients to understand their health background.
Candidate Profile
- Must be a fully licensed Registered Nurse registered with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Possess excellent communication and empathy skills suited for patient interaction.
- Demonstrate strong organizational ability to handle multiple demands efficiently.
- Experience managing medical information with confidentiality while effectively guiding patients.
- Capable of working independently in a remote work setting.
Additional Role Details
- Location: Fully remote with obligation to respond to calls and texts within 2 hours during agreed on-call shifts.
- Employment type: Contractual independent contractor role.
- Hours: On-call and variable, generally covering weekdays from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm PST with 2-3 weekdays weekly.
