About the Role
PM Group seeks to hire a Group Construction Health & Safety Specialist to oversee and support extensive construction projects across Ireland and Western Europe. Reporting to both the Site Construction Manager and the Manager of Group Construction Health & Safety Services, the specialist will be responsible for formulating and executing project-specific Construction Health & Safety (H&S) programs that promote exceptional safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Foster and uphold a proactive, robust health and safety culture within assigned projects.
- Ensure adherence and implementation of PM Group’s environmental sustainability initiatives.
- Guarantee full compliance with pertinent local and national construction health and safety legislation during project execution.
- Partner with Group Construction Health & Safety to develop tailored health & safety strategies, programs, and plans.
- Deploy and manage the Group’s behavioural-based safety program.
- Coordinate and oversee safety protocols related to site access, security, inductions, first aid, welfare, and emergency procedures.
- Lead and manage onsite health and safety personnel and resources.
- Facilitate communication and adoption of industry-leading health and safety best practices.
- Establish an active health and safety monitoring process through regular audits and inspections of site activities.
- Track and report health and safety metrics, including leading and lagging indicators, to identify performance challenges.
- Coordinate development and execution of initiatives aimed at continuous health and safety improvement.
- Assist the Project Construction Manager in fulfilling statutory health and safety duties.
- Manage incident investigations, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
- Influence employee behavior through engagement, relationship-building, and behavioural safety coaching.
- Oversee design and delivery of safety training sessions, workshops, and awareness programs in collaboration with site management.
- Manage safety aspects during the transition from construction to commissioning phases and throughout commissioning where project ownership remains.
- Promote and implement health and safety wellness initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with the company’s ISO45001 certified safety management system.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a primary degree in Engineering, Science or an equivalent field along with a recognized Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Chartered membership of IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) or equivalent accreditation is advantageous.
- Extensive expertise in construction health and safety with a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing top-tier health and safety management systems within construction project environments.
- Proven track record in creating and deploying behavioural safety programs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities coupled with strong influencing and negotiation skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate and exert influence across management and operator levels within projects.
