Job description

Job Overview

We are looking for a reliable General Operative to join our Repairs and Maintenance team based in Birmingham. This hands-on, full-time role involves practical maintenance tasks, strong customer service skills, and teamwork to uphold high standards in property upkeep.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install fixtures such as curtains, blinds, and door handles, requiring basic maintenance experience and attention to detail.
  • Carry out painting and decorating chores, demanding organisational skills and pride in finish quality.
  • Conduct minor plumbing repairs including fixing leaking waste pipes, employing practical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Replace light bulbs and inspect smoke alarms, demonstrating a proactive safety focus.
  • Assist with cleaning and waste collection duties, receiving training and showing eagerness to learn new tasks.
  • Collaborate effectively within the Repairs and Maintenance team, emphasizing reliability and strong teamwork.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions.
  • Communicate clearly with colleagues and residents using strong interpersonal skills.
  • Make independent decisions and resolve problems as they arise, showcasing confidence and initiative.
  • Uphold high standards related to safety, quality, and cost control through a methodical and dependable work approach.

Additional Information

Candidates must have legal entitlement to work in the UK as visa sponsorship is not available. Driving a company vehicle requires age over 21, a valid license held for more than 3 months, and fewer than 9 penalty points.
