The opportunity
This position reports to the Operations Supervisor and is based at a fuel installation site where you’ll be part of the core operational team. The role is designed to provide stability and room to grow, and a structured training and development pathway is included. Experience in defence or the fuel sector is not a prerequisite, as full training will be provided.
You’ll be responsible for moving fuel to the required point by running tanks, pipelines and pumps through SCADA and manual control systems.
Working hours and shifts
The schedule includes a combination of day, afternoon and night shifts. Night work is mainly required during exercise periods, which account for about three months each year. Each shift is 8 hours long and includes a paid 20-minute crib break.
- Day shift: 6-7am to 2-3pm
- Afternoon shift: 1-9pm or 3-11pm, with a 20% loading on ordinary hours
- Night shift: 11pm to 7am, with a 30% loading on ordinary hours
Key duties
- Operate and oversee aviation and/or ground fuel facilities in a safe manner and in line with compliance obligations.
- Carry out regular sampling and testing to keep fuel quality within standards.
- Use tools such as JFIMS and SCADA to maintain fuel quality, compliance, stock volume and availability; comfort with technology is an advantage.
Requirements
- A current driver’s licence is required; HR or HC licence is preferred but not mandatory for entry.
- Must be an Australian citizen and able to successfully complete a police check.
