Role Summary
This opportunity involves working as a freelance transcriptionist proficient in Sinhalese, responsible for accurately transcribing audio recordings featuring two distinct speakers. The role is remote and paid on a contract basis, welcoming qualified participants globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Listen attentively to dual-speaker audio files in Sinhalese with separate channels.
- Transcribe spoken content faithfully and completely for each speaker.
- Identify and label speakers clearly as Speaker 1 or Speaker 2, correlating with audio channels.
- Insert timestamps at every speaker change, formatted as HH:MM:SS.
- Ensure transcripts follow a sequential and gap-free order.
Candidate Requirements
- Native or nearly native fluency in both written and spoken Sinhalese.
- Strong command of written Sinhalese, with correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
- Ability to work autonomously and fulfill daily productivity expectations.
- Access to a reliable computer and internet connection.
- Availability to dedicate at least four hours daily to transcription tasks.
- Previous transcription experience advantageous but not essential; all candidates must pass a qualifying test.
Quality Expectations
- Maintain a Word Error Rate (WER) of 5% or lower on transcripts delivered.
- Ensure zero mistakes in speaker labeling, with Speaker 1 always matched to Channel 1.
- Transcripts are subject to ongoing review and constructive feedback.
- Submissions not meeting quality standards will be returned for amendment.
Project Details
The project entails manual audio transcription in Sinhalese, with a flexible remote schedule requiring approximately four hours per day commitment. Onboarding occurs continuously as candidates qualify.
