Exam/Assessment Developer

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Exam/Assessment Developer to create, manage and enhance certification and assessment exams. This full-time position, based in Mumbai with a hybrid/remote working model on US shift hours, requires collaborating closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to produce assessments that are valid, reliable, and compliant with industry standards. The developer will utilize expertise in exam methodologies, psychometrics, instructional design, and project coordination.

Core Responsibilities

• Perform Job Task Analysis (JTA) to identify essential knowledge, skills, and abilities for certification exams.
• Create exam blueprints and define test documentation.
• Lead workshops with SMEs to generate high-quality assessment content.
• Develop, review, and validate multiple-choice questions for exams.
• Ensure alignment of exam content with psychometric principles and cognitive learning goals.
• Coordinate technical content reviews to maintain accuracy and relevance.
• Organize beta exam rollouts and analyze candidate feedback for improvements.
• Collaborate with psychometric vendors on statistical data analysis, passing score setting, and finalizing exam items.
• Track and manage project timelines, ensuring timely delivery of exam development tasks.
• Safeguard confidentiality and security of all assessment materials.
• Manage exam content using item banking and authoring systems.
• Work alongside cross-disciplinary teams to enhance the certification programs continually.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• At least 4 years professional experience in exam development, educational assessment, certification, or relevant project management fields.
• In-depth knowledge of psychometric theories and exam development processes.
• Experience conducting Job Task Analysis and setting exam objectives.
• Ability to author and review multiple-choice questions effectively.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Expertise in managing virtual teams and working with global SMEs.
• Proven project management capability with multitasking aptitude.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychometrics, Industrial & Organizational Psychology, Educational Assessment, Instructional Design, or an equivalent domain.

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with IT or software certification programs.
• Experience with project management tools like Microsoft Project or OmniPlan.
• Exposure to item banking or assessment authoring software such as Item Workshop, CERTS, or Benchmark.
• Knowledge of standard-setting approaches including Modified Angoff or Hofstee methods.
• Assessment design experience for technical and soft skills.
