Role Summary
This full-time Estimator position is based at one of Zenith’s UK offices in Luton or Loanhead, with remote working available for the right candidate. The role involves reviewing project information, building accurate and competitive cost estimates, and working closely with internal and external stakeholders to shape project bids. Day-to-day work includes examining documents, calculating labour and material costs, speaking with suppliers and subcontractors, and supporting value engineering efforts. Although the role is office-based, frequent site visits and client tender meetings are expected every week.
Responsibilities
- Review project documents and assess the scope of work.
- Prepare detailed and competitive cost estimates.
- Calculate labour, material, and associated project costs.
- Coordinate with clients, colleagues, vendors, and subcontractors to gather pricing and technical input.
- Contribute to value engineering discussions and proposals.
- Attend regular site visits and client tender meetings.
Skills and Personal Qualities
- Clear verbal and written communication, with confidence in dealing with clients and internal teams.
- Prior estimating experience in industrial or construction environments, ideally with rope access or steeplejack work.
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to understand technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent organisation, methodical working style, and strong attention to detail.
- Self-driven attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience with estimating software.
- Experience with Microsoft Project or similar planning tools is an advantage.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Estimator in industrial services, construction, or engineering.
- Background with rope access, scaffolding, or specialist access work is highly desirable.
- HND in Construction Management, Engineering, or a similar subject is preferred.
- Full UK driving licence is required.
- CSCS card would be an advantage.
Salary
The pay range is £35,000 to £55,000 depending on experience.
