About the Role
Auxilia Group Recruitment is seeking to fill an Estimator position on behalf of a respected construction sector client. This pivotal role involves producing precise cost estimates, aiding the tender process, and facilitating successful delivery of construction projects. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Estimator will collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure quotations are both technically sound and commercially competitive.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate incoming enquiries and tender opportunities thoroughly.
- Analyze construction drawings, specifications, and related technical documents accurately.
- Generate reliable, competitive quotations and cost assessments.
- Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to gather pricing, lead times, and technical details.
- Examine commercial documents such as subcontract agreements and warranties.
- Track tender submissions, maintain correspondence, and ensure compliance with critical deadlines.
- Keep detailed records of project and quotation data utilizing Salesforce CRM and internal systems.
- Prepare client quotations and related commercial paperwork.
- Follow up on submitted quotations, capturing customer feedback and nurturing client relationships.
- Assist in project monitoring, reporting, and improving commercial workflows.
- Work closely with Sales, Engineering, Procurement, Operations, and Project Delivery to transition projects smoothly from enquiry stage to order placement.
- Provide general commercial and administrative assistance as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum two years’ experience in a construction estimating role.
- Competency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications confidently.
- Proven experience in preparing quotations and assessing tender enquiries.
- Solid understanding of construction terminology and tender documentation.
- Experience in reviewing subcontract agreements and collateral warranties.
- Strong commercial acumen paired with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and ability to build client relationships.
- Experience engaging directly with customers via telephone and email.
- Effective organizational capabilities to juggle multiple enquiries and deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM software; Salesforce experience is advantageous.
Preferred Backgrounds
- Experience with specialist contractors.
- Knowledge of roofing and cladding contracting or supply.
- Work with construction product manufacturers.
- Familiarity with builders’ merchants and construction suppliers or distributors.
- Background in technical sales or commercial support within construction.
- Construction-related qualifications are beneficial but not mandatory.
