Role Overview
As an Employee Relations Representative, you will oversee daily work practices on a field project, reporting labor issues to senior management. Your responsibilities include supporting staffing strategies, analyzing wage trends, and developing training and orientation programs for the workforce. Your efforts promote a positive workplace environment through effective communication and adherence to labor regulations.
Work Schedule and Location
The position operates on a two weeks on, one week off (2:1) roster with fly-in fly-out (FIFO) arrangements based in Cloncurry, Queensland.
Key Duties
- Adhere to and promote project environmental, safety, and health policies.
- Contribute to strategies and plans related to workforce services and employee relations.
- Collaborate as part of a team to establish effective industrial relations and communication systems on an industrial construction site.
- Provide proactive guidance and training to both professional staff and craft workers regarding workforce service matters to ensure alignment and consistency.
- Assist in creating field training programs tailored to specific working conditions covering workforce services, dispute resolution, work rules, diversity, and respectful work practices.
- Support legal representatives by preparing documentation related to potential industrial claims or disputes raised by craft employees.
- Develop and deliver workforce services components during project orientation and site induction sessions alongside the health, safety, and environment team.
- Represent the company in industrial committees as authorized by management.
- Implement improvements to worker services programs, collaborating with union representatives and subcontractors to drive process enhancements.

Candidate Profile
- Tertiary qualifications in human resource management or industrial relations are highly valued.
- Previous leadership experience in employee relations within construction projects is advantageous.
- Understanding of remote major project personnel logistics is essential – includes recruitment, mobilisation, transportation, accommodation, training, site access, security, and industrial relations management.
- Five to eight years’ experience in employee or industrial relations, human resources, or related roles within construction, EPC, or similar sectors.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Ability to forge collaborative relationships across multiple functions and deliver project objectives efficiently.
- Strong analytical thinking and strategic planning capabilities with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience in employment relations, industrial relations, construction trades, and leadership.
