Role Summary
As an Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW), you will offer essential ecological oversight on construction sites, guaranteeing that activities comply with ecological laws, planning permissions, licences, and environmental project requirements.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform ecological site inspections and lead toolbox talks to inform teams.
- Oversee construction operations to ensure adherence to ecological restrictions and requirements.
- Advise construction teams about protected species, habitats, and recommended mitigation strategies.
- Provide on-site ecological supervision for sensitive work phases.
- Document site observations clearly and prepare concise reports.
- Collaborate closely with environmental managers, contractors, and stakeholders to address ecological concerns efficiently.
- Assist compliance efforts related to environmental management plans and permit obligations.
Candidate Requirements
- Prior experience in the role of Ecological Clerk of Works.
- Possession of CSCS card and Highways Passport.
- Valid Safety Critical medical certification.
- Capability to communicate effectively with various site and project participants.
- Driving licence valid in the UK and readiness to travel to various sites.
- Membership with CIEEM is advantageous.
- Licence for protected species surveys is preferable but not mandatory.
