Role Overview

The Director of Finance combines direct financial management with strategic financial analysis, supporting both everyday operations and long-term goals. Collaborating closely with the Managing Director and department heads, this role aims to enhance financial processes, increase transparency of performance metrics, and ensure efficient and sustainable property operations. The position also involves presenting financial reports and insights to the ownership team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise all accounting activities such as general ledger management, accounts payable, payroll, and financial reporting.
  • Guarantee the accuracy and punctuality of monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statements.
  • Implement and uphold robust internal controls and transparent checks and balances.
  • Manage annual audits, tax returns, and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Analyze financial results, detect patterns, and recommend enhancements.
  • Lead the annual budgeting procedures and ongoing forecasting efforts.
  • Build and preserve financial models to aid operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Provide variance reports and valuable insights to company leadership.
  • Assist department managers in budget control and financial performance comprehension.
  • Assess cost frameworks and suggest measures for efficiency improvement and expense reduction.
  • Collaborate with leadership for long-term planning, capital investment, and business strategy execution.
  • Support financial management of construction, renovation, and capital projects including budgeting, cash flow, and ROI evaluations.
  • Evaluate new business opportunities, alliances, or operational enhancements.
  • Offer financial perspectives on pricing, staffing, and other operational choices.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting and liquidity requirements.
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with banks and lenders.
  • Lead and mentor the Accounting Manager and the finance team, promoting collaboration and meticulousness.
  • Work cross-departmentally with operations, HR, and other divisions.
  • Cultivate an organizational culture that values financial responsibility and transparency.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years in progressive financial leadership roles, specifically as a Director of Finance or equivalent, preferably within large resorts or hospitality venues in the Middle East.
  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a relevant professional certification such as CA or CPA.
  • Proficient knowledge of financial compliance, regulations, and audit oversight.
  • Solid expertise in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting within multifaceted operations.
  • Advanced skills in financial software, accounting systems, and data analytics tools.
  • Thorough understanding of internal controls, risk assessments, and financial governance structures.
  • Experienced in leading and developing finance teams with a focus on accountability and precision.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the aptitude to convert financial data into strategic business recommendations.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills capable of effectively conveying financial information to senior management and stakeholders.

Preferred Additional Experience

  • Background in hospitality, theme parks, or water parks operations.
  • Experience managing capital budget projects, construction finances, and return-on-investment calculations.
  • Familiarity with cash flow oversight and banking relationship enhancement.
  • Knowledge of property management software and integrated financial reporting systems.
  • History of supporting strategic financial planning and long-term forecasting initiatives.
