About the Role

The part-time Development and Operations Associate will support internal development operations by helping run fundraising campaigns and partnership activities that strengthen StartOut’s long-term sustainability. Reporting to the Director of Development, this role combines fundraising support, cross-functional project coordination, and administrative assistance for frontline fundraisers, the Board of Directors, senior leadership, and the organization’s inbox.

The ideal candidate will be very organized, accurate, collaborative, and a strong communicator with genuine interest in development and operations work.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with the Director of Development and work across Systems, Marketing, and Programs to plan, coordinate, and deliver development activities, partnerships, and events that support organizational objectives.
  • Assist with grant applications by researching opportunities, drafting application content, and working with program staff to shape strong narratives.
  • Help manage partner relationships by tracking goals, donations, tasks, and revenue.
  • Refresh development materials such as pitch decks, sponsor documents, invitations, cultivation touchpoints, and other content as needed.
  • Work with the Systems Manager to build and maintain Salesforce pipelines, reports, and dashboards for the Development team.
  • Monitor and update important development data, including sponsorship revenue, event guest lists, Board members’ annual give-get goals, and sponsorship renewals.
  • Provide broad administrative support to the Development team.
  • Take on other duties, assignments, or special projects as required.
  • Share responsibility for customer service on organization inboxes by answering inquiries, routing requests, and directing messages to the right teams or departments.
  • Support leadership with scheduling, meeting preparation, note-taking, document creation, expense reports, and other administrative needs.
  • Digitally code and file expense receipts and revenue records for the bookkeeper and Director of Operations.
  • Assist the CEO’s expense workflow by tracking and uploading receipts into the expense management system.

Requirements

Applicants should bring strong organization, attention to detail, and comfort managing high volumes of data entry, documentation, CRM work, and coordination across multiple teams. Corporate fundraising experience is a plus, though not required. Strong business development, presentation, organization, and computer skills are expected, along with proficiency in Google tools and Microsoft Office. Experience organizing Google Drive and using AI to support work is also a strong bonus.
