Community Support Worker - Residential (Auckland)

Role Description

Spectrum Care is dedicated to supporting adults with intellectual and physical disabilities to live fulfilling and independent lives. We are currently seeking a Community Support Worker for our residential services in Auckland. This role involves providing tailored assistance based on the individual needs and aspirations of each person you support.

Key Duties

• Support individuals with personal activities including participation in community events, social interactions, work or education engagements, and daily living tasks.
• Provide personal care and motivate individuals to develop daily living skills.
• Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and colleagues to ensure holistic support.

Skills and Experience

• Strong empathy for people living with disabilities and understanding of their life challenges.
• Energetic and active to engage with individuals who are frequently on the move.
• Calm demeanour and ability to maintain a reassuring presence in all situations.
• Resilient approach to help maintain appropriate boundaries for client safety.
• Effective explanation and negotiation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Computer literacy, including proficiency in Word, email, and Internet browsing.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Interest in achieving a Community Support Worker Level Three qualification or higher, with support available during employment.
• Desirable but not essential experience in supporting individuals with disabilities, mental health conditions, or challenging behaviors.
• Reliable, committed, and passionate about working with people.
• Possession of a full New Zealand driver's license and ability to pass a police check.

Additional Requirements

• Non-resident applicants must meet INZ Level 3 skill criteria by either having 3+ years paid experience in care work at the workforce wage rate or holding an NZQCF qualification at level 4 or higher (for skill level 3 roles).

Job Details

• Location: Auckland, West Auckland
• Employment type: Full-time (40 hours per week)
• Work shifts include all day, afternoon, evening, overnight, plus weekend shifts.
• Hourly wage ranges from $23.97 to $29.68 NZD.
