Communications Technician - Inside Plant

About the Role

Ventia is recruiting experienced Communications Technicians specializing in Inside Plant work to support vital infrastructure within the power network. This position primarily involves handling low-voltage power systems and communication equipment situated in managed environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and commission low-voltage DC power systems, including conducting battery testing and upkeep.
• Deploy and activate transmission systems such as OTN, MPLS, SDH, and PDH.
• Perform testing and commissioning of inside plant communications devices.
• Diagnose faults and troubleshoot issues across communication and DC power setups.
• Carry out installation, splicing, and termination of copper and fiber optic cabling.
• Analyze and update technical schematics, drawings, and diagrams.
• Working at heights experience is advantageous.
• Electrical registration is a beneficial qualification.

Candidate Profile

• Technically proficient and safety-conscious professional with background in critical infrastructure, power, or telecom sectors.
• Hands-on experience with low voltage power plant setup and commissioning.
• Familiarity with battery systems and corresponding testing protocols.
• Exposure to protective systems is desirable.
• Skilled in fiber optic splicing and installation work.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Physically fit and capable of ladder-based tasks.
• Team-oriented mindset with a strong emphasis on safety compliance.
