Job description

Job Overview

This role involves working under the supervision of a Cleaning Supervisor or authorized personnel to clean designated areas within the premises effectively and safely, coordinating as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform sweeping, suction cleaning, mopping, dry buffing, spray cleaning and waxing, machine scrubbing and drying, as well as floor stripping and re-polishing using suitable equipment.
  • Clean and remove stains from soft floor surfaces, such as carpets and mats, employing appropriate methods.
  • Maintain hygiene in toilet and shower areas, including all fixtures and fittings.
  • Dust, wash, and polish ledges, walls, furniture, fixtures and internal surfaces up to 3.35 meters high.
  • Empty internal litter bins and dispose of waste at designated collection points.

Working Conditions and Compliance

  • Adhere to Health and Safety at Work (NI) Order 1978, COSHH Regulations, relevant legal requirements, and codes of practice.
  • Wear issued protective clothing and flat-soled enclosed toe footwear during cleaning duties.
  • Use and maintain cleaning equipment responsibly; report any faults immediately.
  • Complete all necessary documentation related to cleaning tasks.
  • Provide cover for absent colleagues as per Education Authority procedures.

Training and Development

  • Participate in induction and refresher training sessions for cleaning duties up to and including the employee’s grade.
  • Undertake training for higher-grade cleaning roles as required, with payment applicable only if higher-level duties are assigned.
