Job description

Overview

MARY BROWN'S RESTAURANT is seeking a dedicated full-time cashier to join their team in St. John's, Newfoundland & Labrador. The role offers $17 per hour and demands availability across various shifts including mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, and on-call periods. Immediate start is expected, with a permanent employment status.

Responsibilities

  • Manage cash register operations efficiently.
  • Process payments through cash, cheques, and credit/debit cards for purchased goods and services.
  • Calculate and enter total payment amounts for customers.
  • Receive and handle monetary transactions accurately.
  • Reconcile daily and shift payments against total sales records.
  • Maintain stock on shelves and ensure cleanliness of the counter area.
  • Package purchased merchandise into bags or wrap as needed.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and assist customers, including guiding self-checkout users.
  • Engage in promotional events and activities to support sales.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one year of relevant work experience is required.
  • Applicants must hold a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Proficiency in English for communication is essential.

Work Conditions

  • Work location is on-site at St. John's, Newfoundland & Labrador (A1E 1T2).
  • Working hours range from 30 to 40 hours weekly with possible overtime.
  • Shifts include mornings, days, evenings, nights, weekends, and on-call schedules.
