Cargo Operator

Role Summary

The Cargo Operator is responsible for ensuring all LNG operations adhere strictly to internal Shell standards, particularly focusing on Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) concerns that impact Shell's operational license. This role involves managing both commercial and operational responsibilities derived from contractual agreements, coordinating across multiple stakeholders to guarantee flawless execution of cargo operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain stringent compliance with Shell’s internal standards and HSSE protocols related to LNG operations.
• Execute all commercial and operational contractual obligations without errors.
• Oversee smooth cargo operation processes, including managing pre-deal and post-deal activities and collaborating regularly with freight partners, suppliers, end receivers, and terminals.
• Provide timely updates to trading systems, ensuring accurate operational data, invoicing, reconciliations, and accrual clearances for internal and external deals.
• Handle multiple priorities effectively, addressing any contractual or operational issues to support trading business success.
• Add business value through exercising embedded commercial and logistical deal options and proactive problem resolution.
• Assist commercial teams in evaluating the feasibility of new projects, contracts, and spot cargoes from a contractual perspective.
• Negotiate supply schedules with third parties and calculate cargo pricing based on relevant indices and mechanisms.
• Identify and leverage synergies within Shell Trading operations to optimize processes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives across commercial operations.
• Engage in complex reconciliation processes involving large datasets, ensuring timely completion.
• Manage relationships with external stakeholders including suppliers, customers, surveyors, and regulatory authorities.
• Proactively resolve operational disputes involving both internal and external parties.
• Collaborate with external partners to exchange best practices, explore digital solutions, and share learning.
• Support the LNG Operations and SLMT Digitization strategy alongside the Project Lead to promote continuous automation and improvements.
• Operate within a global 24/7 trading environment, demonstrating flexibility to address requests beyond normal office hours.

The role requires availability to respond flexibly due to the global nature of trading activities, possibly outside standard working hours.
