Role Summary
This is a full-time, on-site Bricklayer position based in the City of Bristol. The successful candidate will work with bricks, blocks, and other masonry materials to build and repair walls, partitions, foundations, and similar structural elements.
Day-to-day work includes reading drawings and specifications, marking out work areas, preparing and applying mortar, cutting and shaping masonry units, and checking that completed work is level, plumb, and correctly aligned. The role requires regular coordination with site supervisors and other trades, adherence to health and safety procedures, care of tools and work areas, and consistent progress toward project deadlines. Minor repair, pointing, and finishing tasks may also be part of the job to ensure a tidy and long-lasting finish.
Qualifications
Demonstrated bricklaying experience is needed, including work such as laying bricks and blocks, building walls and foundations, and completing repairs and repointing.
The role calls for the ability to read construction drawings, follow site directions, and set out work accurately using the right tools and measurements.
A solid understanding of site safety is important, including safe handling of tools and equipment, manual handling practices, and compliance with applicable regulations.
Candidates should have good physical stamina and manual dexterity, along with the ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions and carry out repetitive tasks safely.
Strong communication and teamwork skills are required, together with a dependable and organized approach to deadlines and quality standards.
A relevant trade qualification or apprenticeship in bricklaying or general construction is preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
Previous experience on UK residential or commercial construction sites is an advantage, and a CSCS card or similar site accreditation would be beneficial.
