Role Overview

The Boda Boda Rider is a full-time position based on-site in Kampala. The primary responsibility is to safely transport passengers and cargo within designated routes and areas. Key duties include picking up and dropping off passengers, managing deliveries, adhering to scheduled routes and timeframes, and maintaining punctuality. Compliance with traffic regulations and company safety policies is mandatory. Riders must keep their motorcycles clean and mechanically sound, promptly reporting any issues. Additional tasks involve collecting fares, issuing receipts as necessary, and delivering courteous customer service.

Job Functions

• Transporting passengers and goods safely within assigned areas.
• Following scheduled routes and maintaining timely service.
• Complying with all traffic laws and company safety protocols.
• Regular maintenance and cleanliness of motorcycles, reporting faults immediately.
• Collecting payments and issuing receipts appropriately.
• Coordinating with dispatch and supervisors, respecting instructions related to routes and tasks.
• Keeping precise records of trips and deliveries.

Candidate Requirements

• Possession of a valid motorcycle riding permit and significant practical riding experience in urban settings like Kampala.
• Comprehensive knowledge of traffic rules, road safety measures, and efficient riding techniques.
• Familiarity with Kampala’s roads, landmarks, and common pick-up/drop-off locations.
• Effective communication skills for professional and respectful interaction with clients and team members.
• Basic arithmetic skills to accurately manage cash transactions and fares.
• Dependability, punctuality, and capability to follow schedules with minimal supervision.
• Physical endurance to endure long riding hours and lift or carry goods when necessary.
• Previous experience as a boda boda rider or in related transport/delivery roles is beneficial.
• Readiness to comply with company policies, wear safety equipment like helmets and reflective jackets, and participate in ongoing training.
