Role Overview

The Assistant Chief Housekeeper is a vital part of the Housekeeping team on Viking's Ocean vessels. Reporting to the Executive Housekeeper, this position assists in managing various housekeeping duties to ensure daily operations run efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain adequate inventory levels by overseeing supply lockers and coordinating the distribution of items to ensure the Stateroom Host is properly stocked. Prepare and submit weekly supply requisitions for approval.
• Keep all housekeeping logs current and complete, monitor special cleaning tasks such as curtain cleaning, carpet shampooing, furniture and showerhead sanitation.
• Perform regular inspections of guest staterooms, public areas, corridors, and storage lockers to verify compliance with company standards, health, safety, and fire regulations; promptly report and address any damages or malfunctions to the Executive Housekeeper.
• Deliver exceptional guest comfort by upholding immaculate cleanliness and hygiene based on Viking’s STAR Service Standards and public health policies, adjusting service flow according to guest activities and events.
• Provide strong leadership and management to direct reports, including conducting performance reviews, administering disciplinary actions when necessary, ensuring compliance with Maritime Labor Convention requirements, facilitating onboard training, succession planning, effective crew communication, and recognition.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of one year’s experience in a similar role aboard ships or in premium hospitality settings, including leadership of multicultural teams.
• Fluency in English with strong verbal communication skills to effectively convey all necessary information.
• Strong guest-centric attitude, positive demeanor, professional appearance, and high hygiene standards with an excellent eye for detail and cleanliness.
• Robust administrative capabilities, including proficiency in PC-based databases, spreadsheets, and word processing, along with effective stress management.
• Thorough knowledge of Public Health and Sanitary Policy compliance relevant to the role.
