Role Overview
The Quays Bar Galway, located on Quay Street in Galway city centre, is looking for an experienced and energetic Assistant Bar Manager. In this hands-on position, you will report to the Bar Manager and General Manager and help oversee the daily running of a busy, well-known venue.
This opportunity is suited to a hospitality professional who thrives in a fast-paced bar environment, leads by example, and is committed to delivering top-quality customer service. The role involves supporting service delivery, guiding the team, maintaining bar presentation and stock levels, and helping ensure every guest enjoys a consistently strong experience.
An attractive salary package of up to €52,000 per year is available for the right person.
What You Will Do
- Assist the Bar Manager and General Manager with the daily operations of the bar and wider venue.
- Supervise, inspire, and support the bar team during busy service periods.
- Make sure guests receive a friendly, efficient, and professional service throughout their visit.
- Keep drink service, presentation, cleanliness, and bar organisation up to the expected standard.
- Oversee stock control activities, including ordering, receiving deliveries, and reducing waste.
- Support roster preparation, staffing levels, and day-to-day operational planning.
- Ensure correct cash handling, till procedures, and opening/closing checks are followed.
- Monitor standards consistently and help maintain company policies and operating procedures.
- Support compliance with health and safety, food safety, licensing, and responsible alcohol service rules.
- Work alongside management to improve sales, team output, and overall venue performance.
