Air Mobility/Airlift Planner, Journeyman

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Air Mobility/Airlift Planner, Journeyman to support theater air mobility and deployment operations within the Indo-Pacific region. This role provides essential logistics management services by planning, coordinating, and synchronizing strategic and intra-theater airlift operations to fulfill logistics, sustainment, mission support, and operational demands. The planner will collaborate directly with the RSOI Coordination Lead to develop air mobility strategies for the timely transportation of personnel, equipment, supplies, and critical mission cargo across complex and dispersed operational environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and synchronize air mobility and airlift plans to support strategic, operational, and tactical logistics missions.
• Arrange movement of personnel, equipment, cargo, and sustainment resources using military and commercial airlift platforms.
• Facilitate Reception, Staging, Onward Movement, and Integration (RSOI) activities through air mobility planning and execution.
• Coordinate airlift requirements with entities such as Air Mobility Command, U.S. Transportation Command, Service Components, Joint Task Forces, and government stakeholders.
• Create air movement schedules, cargo loading plans, passenger manifests, and advise on aircraft utilization.
• Work with airfield operators, aerial ports, logistics planners, and movement control teams to ensure synchronized air operations.
• Monitor and adapt airlift execution plans in response to operational changes, weather conditions, aircraft availability, and mission priorities.
• Prepare mobility reports, transportation status updates, operational evaluations, and executive briefings for government leadership.
• Evaluate transportation capacity, throughput, and route options, recommending enhancements to improve mission effectiveness.
• Coordinate contingency airlift support for humanitarian, disaster response, crisis action, and emergent missions.
• Ensure adherence to Department of Defense transportation policies, hazardous cargo regulations, air mobility procedures, and contracts.
• Maintain comprehensive airlift planning documentation, cargo tracking, database records, and operational planning materials.
• Support operational exercises, deployment rehearsals, and mobility planning events.
• Encourage collaboration and continuous improvement to optimize theater air mobility and logistics responsiveness.
• Assist with distributed and contested logistics operations necessitating rapid airlift planning and execution.

Candidate Requirements

• At least five years of experience in air mobility planning, airlift operations, transportation planning, deployment operations, movement control, or logistics management related to government or Department of Defense programs.
• Background supporting DoD, Joint commands, Combatant Commands, Air Mobility Command, USTRANSCOM, or Special Operations organizations.
• Experience managing military or commercial airlift operations for personnel and cargo movement.
• Familiarity with deployment planning, RSOI operations, transportation scheduling, or theater sustainment logistics.
• Ability to prepare transportation documents, movement schedules, cargo plans, and operational reports.
• Proven capacity to coordinate across multiple organizations to meet air mobility and logistics operational timelines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation Management, Aviation Management, Military Science, Business Administration, or related fields.
• Experience with USSOCOM, SOCPAC, Geographic Combatant Commands, Air Mobility Command, USTRANSCOM, Joint Task Forces, or Service Component headquarters.
• Knowledge of Indo-Pacific operations, contested logistics, expeditionary air mobility, distributed sustainment, or multinational logistics operations.
• Familiarity using logistics and transportation systems such as GATES, CMOS, JOPES, GCCS-J, TC-AIMS II, Power BI, SharePoint, Microsoft 365, and SmarTrack.
• Understanding of Joint Publication 4-01 (The Defense Transportation System), aerial port operations, hazardous cargo procedures, aircraft load planning, and theater deployment operations.
• Professional logistics certifications such as Certified Professional Logistician (CPL), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified in Logistics Transportation & Distribution (CLTD), or Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.
• Experience supporting TS/SCI operations, Special Operations Forces, Joint air mobility, expeditionary logistics, and distributed operations in the Indo-Pacific region.

Salary range for this role is between $59,600 and $122,100 annually, influenced by factors such as geographic location, contract wages, prior experience, education, and certifications.
