Role overview

As a Waste Coordinator, you will oversee the proper handling and collection of waste and act as the environmental point of contact within the Fulfillment Center. The role focuses on meeting regulatory obligations, aligning with Amazon standards, and reducing waste wherever possible.

Core responsibilities

Identify and classify waste correctly, including safe storage, segregation, packing, labeling, and preparation for collection in line with European and local waste regulations.
Carry out detailed environmental checks to support ongoing improvement, covering waste collection points, spill response kits, quarantine/product review areas, and waste-handling tools and equipment.
Support the site in preparing monthly waste analyses to track waste volumes and identify opportunities for improvement.
Monitor environmental incidents on site and take part in investigations, working closely with the local Environmental Manager to complete accurate and thorough reviews.
Maintain the waste storage area and all related safety equipment, including eyewash stations, emergency spill kits, fire extinguishers, and similar items.
Manage all waste pickups and serve as the main contact for the disposal vendor, including sending collection logs, scheduling and coordinating pickups, tracking documentation for each waste shipment, and maintaining waste transfer records.
Research trends, inventory losses, and cost-saving measures where relevant.

Day-to-day work

You will act as a liaison between Operations, Facilities & Engineering, and the Environmental Assurance and Protection team. Your workday may include coordinating the internal disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, supporting the donation process, optimizing and coordinating collections with external disposal providers, helping manage internal pallet disposal, handling special tasks and projects, and assisting the technical department. You will receive training on applicable regulations and provide the site with technical support for waste handling while helping implement Amazon’s global Environmental Assurance and Protection (EAP) programs at the assigned facility.

This position sits within the Environmental Assurance and Protection (EAP) team. The Customer Fulfillment organization is the foundation of Amazon’s operations, with fulfillment centers acting as the starting point for most shipments. These sites operate around the clock and bring together people with many different skill sets, from hands-on operational roles to data-focused work that supports better company-wide decisions.

Basic qualifications

Advanced German speaking and writing ability.
Professional experience using MS Office tools such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Technical understanding of waste management processes.
Experience with environmental regulations.

Preferred qualifications

Advanced English speaking and writing ability.
Background in logistics, operations, warehousing, or customer-focused environments.
Strong and consistent attention to detail.
Ability to communicate across all levels and coach or mentor others on safe working practices.
