Overview
Planet Aid, a nonprofit dedicated to textile recycling for environmental protection and sustainability in underprivileged global regions, seeks a full-time Hybrid Warehouse/Driver based in Epa, Niger State, Nigeria. This role reports to the Operations Manager.
Work Schedule and Compensation
The role requires four 10-hour weekday shifts starting at 3:00 AM. Compensation is $22 per hour, paid on a weekly basis. Benefits include health, vision, dental, life, AD&D insurance, and a 401(k) plan. Time off provided includes paid vacation, sick leave, and nine holidays annually.
Role Responsibilities
This position combines duties in warehouse operations and transportation. Warehouse tasks include unloading trucks; weighing carts, cages, or sack stands; organizing weighed items; sorting miscellaneous items; maintaining cleanliness including garbage disposal and clearing debris; operating forklifts; packaging donated textiles; and ensuring proper storage and resource use. Transportation duties involve driving box trucks up to 20 feet to collect donated materials at various sites, servicing designated routes, emptying donation bins, cleaning sites, disposing of unusable items, and maintaining strong communication with management regarding any issues or safety concerns. Flexibility for task switching and possible schedule adjustments is required depending on seasonal demand.
Qualifications and Skills
Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one year driving experience with small commercial trucks. Proficiency in reading and interpreting maps and GPS, completing paperwork accurately, and basic English literacy is essential. Candidates must pass pre-employment drug screening, background check, and meet Department of Transportation physical standards. A clean driving record that meets insurability requirements is necessary.
Physical and Work Environment Demands
The job entails prolonged standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds regularly, pushing loads up to 300 pounds, and operating vehicles for extended periods under various weather and traffic conditions. Vision requirements include close focus, color, depth, and distance perception. The environment may expose employees to moving machinery, humid conditions, airborne particles, and outdoor weather.
