Visual Designer

Position Overview

The Visual Designer at The Winsor School is tasked with crafting innovative and cohesive design solutions that support the school's strategic communication objectives. This role involves delivering creative projects across print and digital platforms that promote the Winsor brand to diverse audiences, while managing high project volumes with shifting priorities. The Visual Designer will work closely with internal stakeholders and demonstrate strong relationship-building and client service skills to produce accurate and visually striking materials that adhere to brand standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with the Director of Communications to develop and deploy design strategies that advance enrollment, donor engagement, and recruitment goals.
• Collaborate with the Communications team and campus stakeholders to translate objectives into compelling creative campaigns that align with the brand.
• Lead concept development and oversee creative production from ideation to delivery for a variety of projects ranging from internal communications to external multi-channel campaigns.
• Support the production of the Winsor Bulletin, a biannual print and digital magazine aimed at alumni, current and prospective students, parents, and donors.
• Create prototypes for email templates and mockups for various print materials including invitations, booklets, and fundraising appeals.
• Manage Winsor’s visual identity through expertise in design, layout, typography, and multimedia elements.
• Educate and collaborate with campus partners to ensure projects comply with brand guidelines and reflect a sophisticated design aesthetic.
• Present creative concepts persuasively to stakeholders, facilitate consensus, and address challenges throughout the design process.
• Enhance communication operations by developing and maintaining systems to streamline design requests, project tracking, and resource coordination.
• Manage availability and timelines of internal and external creative resources using shared team systems.
• Stay current with innovative trends in integrated design and creative thinking to promote project advancement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in graphic design or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 4 years of progressively responsible creative experience with proven leadership in strategic and creative initiatives.
• Strong proficiency in brand development and the end-to-end creative process with experience overseeing complex brand portfolios.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management capabilities.
• Highly organized with skills in workflow and digital asset management.
• Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), project management software, and experience with animation and motion graphics.
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and content management systems.
• Experience collaborating with external creative agencies and print/web vendors to deliver large-scale projects.
• A robust portfolio demonstrating strategic and consistent design excellence across multiple platforms.
• Comprehensive understanding of creative process methodologies, client management, project budgeting, and contracting.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Routine activities include talking, listening, walking, sitting, and standing.
• Must be capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
• Requires ability to lift or move items up to 30 pounds.

Compensation and Benefits

This role offers an annual salary ranging from $80,000 to $100,000. Benefits such as medical, dental, vision coverage, and a 403(b) retirement plan are provided starting from the first day of employment.
