Role Overview
This full-time position based in Edmonton, Alberta, entails supervising daily warehouse operations. Duties include managing receipt, storage, and shipment of goods, maintaining precise inventory control, and ensuring efficient material handling. The supervisor is responsible for coordinating transportation schedules, overseeing loading and unloading tasks, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
The role involves leading and coaching warehouse personnel, tracking performance metrics, troubleshooting operational challenges, and streamlining workflows to satisfy service and delivery targets. Collaboration with internal departments and external partners is essential to sustain timely, cost-efficient, and reliable distribution services.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Proven leadership skills in supervising teams, managing performance, and coordinating workflows.
- Experience in shipping, receiving, and material handling to manage freight and product movement effectively.
- Strong inventory management capabilities, including conducting cycle counts and handling documentation accurately.
- Proficiency in forklift operation and familiarity with warehouse equipment, following all safety procedures.
- Experience with food or medical distribution logistics and warehouse management systems is advantageous.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a dynamic and physically demanding setting.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; post-secondary education in logistics, supply chain, or related areas is preferred.
- Must possess Class 1 driving experience.
- Ability to multi-task and remain composed under stressful conditions.
- Capability to make prompt and cost-effective decisions.
- Experience managing owner operators and company drivers.
- Willingness and ability to manage a Full Truck Load (FTL) division alongside final mile delivery operations.
