Trade Assistant

About the Role

Busways Group is inviting a motivated individual with basic to intermediate mechanical knowledge to join our Heatherbrae team as a Trade Assistant. This role supports mechanical tradespeople and the wider workshop staff to ensure our fleet is maintained to the highest standard. You'll play a crucial part in vehicle upkeep and workshop activities, with plenty of opportunity for career growth.

What We Offer

• Potential earnings exceeding $85,000 per year including reasonable overtime and generous allowances, inclusive of superannuation.
• Base hourly wage of $31.2884.
• Attendance allowance of $16 per rostered worked hour.

Key Responsibilities

• Support minor vehicle and equipment repairs and servicing within your skill set under supervision.
• Manage bus movements around the yard, including parking and refuelling.
• Conduct part pick-up and delivery tasks as directed by supervisors or leading hands.
• Maintain general tidiness and upkeep of the workshop and yard areas.
• Assist with store duties when requested.
• Follow all Work Health & Safety regulations during all tasks.
• Ensure workshop practices meet cleanliness and safety standards.
• Undertake any other non-trade duties as assigned.

Candidate Requirements

• Willingness to work varied shifts.
• Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
• Experience collaborating in team environments handling daily maintenance and repair tasks.
• Comfortable using computers and software tools.
• Proactive mindset with adaptability and a drive for continuous improvement.
• Physical fitness to handle job demands including heavy lifting.
• Willingness to undergo pre-employment medical and working with children checks.
• Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or unrestricted work rights in Australia.
• Hold a current unrestricted Australian driver's licence relevant to the state.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar workshop or mechanical support role is advantageous but not mandatory; training will be provided.
• Possession of a Medium Rigid (MR) licence or higher.
