Role Overview
The Track Operative plays a vital role in inspecting, maintaining, and repairing railway tracks and related infrastructure to guarantee secure and dependable train services. Positioned full-time on-site in Abu Dhabi Emirate, the operative collaborates closely with maintenance teams to perform regular track patrols, identify faults, and support restoration activities like rail replacements, ballast management, and fastening adjustments. Daily tasks include handling manual tools and track machinery, adhering strictly to safety protocols and work guidelines, and meticulously documenting all maintenance work and findings. The operative also participates in emergency responses for track incidents, liaises with supervisory and engineering groups, and supports ongoing efforts to enhance track quality and safety.
Qualifications and Skills
- Hands-on experience with track inspection, maintenance, and repairs, including the safe operation of hand-held tools and basic track machinery.
- Strong commitment to railway safety, hazard identification, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Capability to interpret and follow technical instructions, work plans, and straightforward engineering diagrams pertinent to track work.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills for productive collaboration with supervisors, engineers, and maintenance staff.
- Physical fitness suitable for outdoor work under varying weather conditions and flexibility to work shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Previous work experience in railways, civil infrastructure, or construction maintenance, with rail operations exposure considered a plus.
- Vocational or diploma qualifications in railway technology, civil engineering, or related disciplines; additional industry certifications and on-the-job training are advantageous.
- Basic computer skills necessary for maintenance reporting and system usage; proficiency in English required, and Arabic language skills are an added benefit.
