Technologist - Olefinic Chemical

Role Purpose

This position involves executing operational strategies for both established and emerging product or technology projects. The incumbent will evaluate cutting-edge technologies, propose process enhancements based on benchmarking studies, and assist in pilot projects and plant trials. The goal is to improve operational efficiency, safety, and product innovation in alignment with the company's Technology Strategy and internal guidelines, thereby supporting organizational excellence and strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities for process enhancements to increase production capacity.
• Conduct root cause analyses to tackle complex process and engineering issues and recommend solutions.
• Assist Senior Technologists in defining and implementing process, equipment, and technology upgrades aimed at boosting capacity and efficiency.
• Support execution of improvement projects ensuring they align with the technology strategy and operational plans.
• Collaborate in the evaluation of catalysts, chemicals, and additives to optimize processes and product quality.
• Contribute to pilot studies and scale-up activities to facilitate technological progress.
• Coordinate with Research & Development teams to manage scale-up and plant trials, ensuring milestone adherence and successful integration.
• Oversee commercial plant trials to validate new technologies and ensure smooth transition from lab to full-scale production.
• Carry out process simulations and Advanced Process Control (APC) modeling to enhance efficiency and anticipate challenges.
• Prepare quarterly product performance benchmarking reports and derive actionable recommendations from insights.

Knowledge and Competencies

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 4 to 8 years of relevant experience in process technology or chemical engineering within the refining or petrochemical industry.
• Comprehensive understanding of product technologies and advancements.
• Proficiency with modern simulation tools and techniques.
• Experience in product development and application of science and engineering principles.
• Familiarity with modeling, project, and execution standards.
• Awareness of plant Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements.
• Skills in process optimization and innovation management.
