Overview
Polyose Bio is advancing a synthetic biology platform designed to engineer microbial cells capable of converting food waste into a variety of modular sugar polymers. This role is based in Boston and is a full-time on-site position.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, construct, and evaluate libraries of microbial strains tailored for the production of diverse sugar polymers.
- Develop and implement experimental workflows to acquire quantitative data, including techniques such as flow cytometry, omics analyses, and structural characterization.
- Collaborate closely with teams specializing in Metabolic Engineering and Polymer Chemistry to enhance biosynthetic pathways for sugar polymer production in engineered strains.
- Effectively communicate research methods and findings internally within the team and externally to scientific peers, industry leaders, and academics.
- Participate in the creation and thorough documentation of intellectual property related to ongoing projects.
Candidate Profile
- A strong commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
- Enthusiasm for contributing to a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment.
- Possession of a Ph.D. or Master's degree in Biological Engineering, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or closely related disciplines.
- Minimum of three years of research experience gained in academic or industrial laboratory settings.
- Proficiency with molecular biology techniques, genome editing tools, and microbial cultivation methods.
- Capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience with quantitative data analysis methodologies.
- Additional expertise in omics technologies, analytical laboratory methods, and software development is advantageous.
