Job Role and Responsibilities
As a Surf Planning & Reporting Engineer based in Port Harcourt, you will be responsible for comprehensive project planning, progress monitoring, and reporting activities aligned with EPC contracts.
Planning and Scheduling
- Create and update the project schedule across multiple detail levels (levels 1 to 4).
- Establish schedule structures including work breakdown structures (WBS), key milestones, and interface points.
- Integrate schedules submitted by different contractors and disciplines into a consolidated master schedule.
- Identify critical path activities, available float, and potential delay risks.
- Recommend schedule optimization strategies and catch-up plans to improve project timelines.
Progress Tracking
- Gather and analyze actual progress data related to physical work accomplished.
- Carry out weekly updates of schedules and forecast completion dates accordingly.
- Conduct variance analysis comparing baseline schedules, actual progress, and forecasts to determine root causes of deviations.
Reporting
- Prepare regular reports on planning progress, key milestone achievement, and performance indicators (KPIs) on weekly and monthly bases.
- Highlight alerts and critical issues requiring attention.
- Provide inputs for integrated project planning and reporting to project leadership, business units, and partner organizations.
- Ensure all disseminated data is accurate, consistent, and reliable.
Coordination and Interfaces
- Collaborate closely with teams responsible for project control, cost control, technical disciplines, EPC contractors, and overall project management.
- Participate actively in project meetings including planning sessions, coordination meetings, and review forums.
Methods and Tools
- Apply established project planning and reporting procedures and standards rigorously.
- Propose constructive improvements to existing methodologies and tools to enhance efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills
- Deep knowledge of multidisciplinary oil and gas project execution and interfacing.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 for scheduling activities.
- Experience using Power BI or other Business Intelligence tools for data analysis and visualization.
- Strong analytical abilities combined with effective synthesis skills.
- Demonstrated proactivity and a constructive critical thinking approach.
- A minimum of 10 years of professional experience specifically in planning and reporting within projects governed by EPC contracts.
