Position Overview
The Universitätsstadt Gießen is seeking to fill permanent full-time positions for street cleaners at the earliest possible date.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform sweeping and cleaning tasks on public streets.
- Empty and clean public trash bins.
- Carry out winter service duties such as clearing snow and ice.
- Occasionally undertake additional operational activities including roles as waste collectors and maintenance of service vehicles.
Candidate Profile
- Full physical capability to perform the required duties.
- Possession of a valid Class B driver’s license; higher license categories are preferred.
- Manual dexterity and craftsmanship skills.
- Preferably several years of experience in street cleaning.
- Competent German language skills both spoken and written at least at B1 level.
- Awareness and commitment to cleanliness and environmental protection.
- Customer service orientation, dedication, reliability, responsibility, and a polite demeanor even under conflict situations.
- Ability to work well in teams and adapt to changing small group settings.
- Cultural sensitivity and competence in dealing with diverse teams.
Working Conditions
Applicants must be willing to occasionally work on Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, and during evening hours. Winter service includes on-call duties which may require work beyond normal hours during special occasions. Shift work is currently not planned but may be introduced in the future.
