About the Role
This position is dedicated to delivering age-appropriate patient care aligned with the Nursing Scope of Practice, fully supporting the organizational mission, vision, and values. The nurse will adhere strictly to the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi while promoting health and providing health education.
Key Responsibilities
- Exhibit critical thinking skills, effective conflict resolution, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Encourage a multidisciplinary team atmosphere fostering mutual respect and clear communication among healthcare professionals to provide patient and family-centered care.
- Identify and report incidents promptly to supervisors and physicians as required.
- Serve as a role model and mentor for nursing staff including junior nurses, practical nurses, midwives, and students.
- Supervise junior staff and students to ensure safe and effective care delivery.
- Understand and apply resource management principles within cost-effective practices.
- Engage constructively in organizational changes and assume charge responsibilities as delegated.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care following organizational policies and unit service scope.
- Complete all documentation within the required timeframes, demonstrating proficiency in using systems such as Malaffi.
- Utilize individualized, integrated care plans to set clear, measurable daily goals including discharge planning transparent to patients.
- Practice within competencies and embrace evidence-based methods in caregiving.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to patient condition changes, utilizing early warning scoring and escalation protocols per SEHA policy.
- Manage pain assessment and treatment following guidelines, ensuring documentation compliance.
- Prioritize care based on continuous patient need assessment and facilitate referrals to maximize comprehensive care.
- Advocate for patients’ rights and dignity, fostering a culturally sensitive care environment.
- Follow medication administration protocols strictly, including handling high-risk drugs, narcotics, and medication reconciliation processes in accordance with Ministry of Health regulations.
- promptly report medication errors or near misses using Patient Safety Net.
- Respond to emergencies as per organizational protocols.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and professional communication tailored to diverse clinical scenarios.
- Ensure clear, timely, and concise information exchange between patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams utilizing SBAR techniques.
- Uphold professional boundaries in all interactions within the healthcare environment.
- Participate actively in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, assisting policy and procedural developments.
- Contribute to a safe and risk-minimized work setting, being vigilant for environmental hazards and compliance with infection control practices.
- Maintain up-to-date adherence to mandatory health and safety training and respect international and Department of Health patient safety standards.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess either a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or an Associate degree in Nursing from Canada or the USA with a minimum course duration of two years. They must have successfully passed the relevant national licensing exam—NCLEX-RN for USA or respective Canadian licensing exams.
