Role Overview

This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Enugu State, Nigeria for an SQL Specialist. The position is centered on building, maintaining, and improving SQL databases that power STC’s analytics, AI products, and consulting engagements. The role involves creating database structures, developing advanced queries, writing stored procedures and views, and keeping data accurate, secure, and high-performing.

Key Responsibilities

You will work with data analysts, data scientists, and software engineers to develop efficient data pipelines, automate data handling processes, and support reporting and dashboarding requirements. The role also includes tracking database performance, resolving technical issues, maintaining documentation for schemas and procedures, and helping establish strong data management practices across internal and client projects.

Qualifications and Requirements

Candidates should have strong SQL development skills and working knowledge of at least one general-purpose programming language such as Python. A solid grasp of database management systems is needed, including relational database design, data modeling, indexing, and optimization. Familiarity with Linux environments and basic system administration tasks related to deployment and maintenance is also expected.

Applicants should bring experience with software development practices such as version control, testing, and teamwork in cross-functional settings. The role requires comfort working with large datasets and supporting analytics and reporting work in data-driven environments. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred, though equivalent practical experience may also be considered. Background exposure to data analytics, business intelligence tools, or AI/ML projects will be an added advantage. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to explain technical ideas clearly to non-technical stakeholders are important.
