Specialist, SAP ABAP

Role Summary

This position calls for an experienced SAP developer competent in delivering effective solutions supportive of Transnet's business processes and applications. The successful candidate will develop reliable reporting capabilities, interactive graphical interfaces, and system integration links. Strong expertise in SAP ABAP and Webdynpro is essential, along with substantial exposure to the SAP IS-OIL module and other SAP modules including external system integration.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy SAP functionalities while following organizational change control procedures across multiple clients.
• Prepare test strategies and execute unit and integration tests.
• Analyze, design, develop, test, implement, maintain, and optimize SAP reports, queries, workflows, interface solutions, and custom developments across SAP and Portal platforms.
• Research upcoming SAP functionalities and modules to enhance business solutions.
• Perform technical duties throughout all stages of the software development lifecycle.
• Ensure systems are developed inline with prescribed frameworks and quality standards.
• Transfer technical and SAP knowledge to end users and maintain comprehensive development documents.
• Support project technical needs and troubleshoot system issues thoroughly.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in IT with 3 to 5 years of relevant IT experience, or a National Higher Diploma with 5 to 8 years' relevant experience.
• Proven experience in business/systems analysis and SAP ABAP development with full implementation exposure, including integration with non-SAP systems.
• Hands-on knowledge of SAP IS-OIL and modules like FI, SD, MM, QM, PM.
• Experience developing SAP Portal applications using Webdynpro and ABAP.
• Expertise in integration technologies such as Web Services and XML transformations.
• Possession of SAP ABAP certification is required.
