Job Overview
The Solutions Laboratory Specialist is responsible for preparing reference standard solutions following established protocols using laboratory instruments. The role demands meticulous bench work, strong attention to detail, and efficient prioritization of tasks under the supervision of senior staff.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Adhere strictly to standard operating procedures.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations when working with chemicals.
- Precisely prepare and package organic reference standard solutions.
- Carry out accurate weighing, dilution, and handling of solid, gaseous, and liquid substances.
- Operate various laboratory apparatus, including occasional use of ampule sealing equipment.
- Document all activities in internal platforms such as IFS, Cedar Bay, FileMaker, and ELN in line with Quality Management Systems.
- Achieve productivity goals and meet deadlines consistently.
- Maintain correct storage and handling procedures for chemicals and solutions.
- Adapt effectively to changing priorities.
- Provide support to team members when required.
- Gain expertise in preparing advanced solutions, including volatile and semi-volatile systems.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Candidate Qualifications
- Applicants with either relevant educational qualifications or practical experience are encouraged to apply.
- A Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in Chemistry, with up to 2 years of experience, or
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in manufacturing, laboratory, or comparable environments.
- Capability to safely operate laboratory equipment.
- Fundamental knowledge of chemical principles and solution preparation calculations.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications for routine tasks.
- Familiarity with organic chemistry and laboratory or manufacturing sectors is advantageous.

The annual salary for this position ranges from CAD 44800 to CAD 56000 and is dependent on experience, skills, and geographic location.
